Building a Team
As a speaker for Sightline, a branch of Cru, I have the privilege and responsibility of building a team of partners who make this ministry possible through prayer and personal financial support. I’d love to share more.
Cultural Confusion
We live in a time where many are apathetic or antagonistic to the gospel. Christians tend to be known more for what they are against rather than who they are for. Polarization is increasing, culture keeps shifting, and many believers are left doubting the foundations of their faith or are confused about how to share it with others.
Young people seem to be asking less, “is it true?” and more, “why should I care?”
While many are spiritually open, that openness is often directed towards a vague, personalized spirituality rather than the Christian faith.
Much of this confusion comes from a misunderstanding, or complete lack of understanding of the Christian story. But the confusion is not only outside the church. Christians also struggle to grasp the secular stories shaping the people around them. And when someone else’s beliefs remain foreign to us, we can become defensive, angry, discouraged, or silent.
Does this sound familiar? Many Christians want to share their faith, but fear sounding hateful or intolerant. Others grow resentful and see culture as insane or beyond hope. Some begin to wonder if Christianity is even true. Others give up and keep their faith private. Instead of a bold and winsome witness, we often end up with either a private or angry faith.
We live in a post-Christian culture where basic Christian assumptions about life are no longer shared. Questions like who are we, what’s wrong with the world, what is the solution, and why are we here are now answered in ways that conflict with Christianity.
Identity is viewed as something we create by looking inward, justice as outrage against the misuse of power, freedom as only the absence of restraints, and happiness as the goal of life.
When the gospel is heard through these cultural stories, it can sound nonsensical or even undesirable to those who believe them.
This means our task is not only to share why Christianity is true, but to first share why we should want it to be true.
My Story
In 2017, I joined the Josh McDowell Ministry, now Sightline, as Josh’s personal assistant. Over the next two years I traveled with Josh around the world and watched God use the truth of the gospel to reach thousands of people.
During those years, God awakened a calling in me to speak and write on apologetics and proclaim the good news of Jesus as an evangelist. After pursing a master’s in theology from Talbot Seminary, I joined Sightline as a full-time speaker and writer.
Today, I create resources, write, and speak to help others know why they believe what they believe, respond to objections to the Christian faith, and engage others with clarity, courage, and grace.
In today’s confusing culture, apologetics and evangelism must do more than defend what is true and proclaim its message. It must also show the goodness and beauty of the Christian faith. People are craving something real. They want a story that not only makes sense of the world but also offers the life they were made for.
Our Purpose
At Sightline, we seek to cut through confusion in culture, so people see Jesus clearly. We are continuing the legacy of Josh McDowell and 60+ years of faithful ministry.
The secular stories shaping our culture today promise freedom, identity, happiness and meaning, but they are leaving people lonely, disconnected, discontent, and unsure of who they are. Yet this also provides tremendous opportunity. Young people are hungry for the truth and are responding to Jesus.
That is why I create resources, write and speak globally to help people explore their faith, establish convictions, and engage their world. My work focuses on cultural apologetics and evangelism as I address the popular narratives of today, exposing why they fail and showing how the Christian story is true, good, and satisfying.
And we are seeing God work. This past month, I shared the gospel in Albania, and 15 Muslim college students surrender their lives to Jesus. Last year, over 60 million people around the globe encountered our resources. My prayer is that God would continue using our books, videos, courses, and events to help non-believers encounter Jesus and equip believers to share their faith boldly.
Let’s do this Together
As a speaker for Sightline, a branch of Cru, I have the privilege and responsibility of building a team of partners who make this ministry possible through prayer and personal financial support. This work is not something we do alone. Every resource created, message given, and life impacted happens because people like you choose to stand with us.
Earlier this year, my wife Hannah and I entered into a season we did not expect. Our daughter, Everlane, was diagnosed with a rare chromosomal disorder. The diagnosis has brought numerous doctors’ appointments, increased costs, and additional care as we seek to help her grow and develop into who God made her to be.
Considering these ministry opportunities and our families changing needs, I am currently seeking $2,500 in new monthly support.
Would you prayerfully consider joining our monthly support team and partnering with us to help young people encounter the truth, goodness, and beauty of Jesus?
I would love to connect with you personally to share more.
Thank you for your prayerful consideration.
Let’s give them Jesus together.
